Above all, though I didn't want to go into much detail about it, I hated the ending--the idea that I was supposed to be enchanted by actions, when as far as I could tell what motivated them was that his career wasn't going as smoothly as he would have liked,.M.V. I can’t quite put my finger on what it was. I wish I could see it again in the theaters but I’m so far behind on movies right now it’s not likely to happen. I grew up on Keaton and I was so happy to hear he was going to be in a movie that might take advantage of his brilliance. When positive word started to trickle out of screenings since Telluride I really got excited for this. And I liked it. I liked it quite a bit, but there was still something, again, I don’t know how to better articulate it, slightly off. I almost feel as if I liked the movie from a distance. I could marvel at the technique, the way that it was shot and put together, the acting, which is good across the board, but I was not really engaged in the story. Plus, I really disliked the ending, not the ending in the hospital, but what happens on the stage. It was annoying and pretentious. Iñárritu doesn’t do subtle. Still, I liked the movie overall and want to see it again. I guess that latter sentiment is what counts. At the very least, I’ve thought about that movie a lot more than most of the others I’ve seen this year.

Philhttp://pcgarcia-fivebodyblade.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
